Implications of Billing Insurance & The Benefits of Cash Pay
Did you know that you do not have to use insurance for mental health services? If you chose to use your insurance for mental health services another clinic would submit the sessions to your insurance company for payment along with a record of your status and treatment which is equivalent to a medical record in that, in order for insurance to cover your treatment there must be an illness or disorder that is diagnosed and reported to the insurance company. This diagnosis demonstrates or justifies the treatment. The information in this record can be requested by other insurance policies that you apply to, other entities if required by their policies, and/or subpoened for legal review. Additionally, there are for most insurance policies a co-pay and/or co-insurance amount due at the time of services rendered and/or after insurance has been billed. Veritas pricing is competitive, if not below these co-pay/co-insurance amounts. Some people are not concerned about the above or possible complications from the above stated, however it is important for you to be informed of the implications of using insurance for mental health services.
When paying cash for therapy sessions confidentiality is exponentially increased due to the fact that insurance companies do not have access to your records which makes attendance to therapy truely confidential and limited to whomever the client deems "need to know". More importantly, a client is able to receive counseling sessions without being required to have a mental health diagnosis on file.
BENEFITS OF CASH: True confidentiality>No public medical record>No diagnosis required>Treatment Modality is kept private>Affordability
